Khunjerab Pass: Everything You Need To Know

July 7, 2026

At 4,693 metres, the Khunjerab Pass is the highest paved international border crossing in the world, connecting Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan to China's Xinjiang region. It sits inside Khunjerab National Park, home to the Marco Polo sheep and, higher up, snow leopards.

The pass is typically open from May through November, weather permitting — our itineraries are built to reach it on a clear day whenever possible.
